Make this easy strawberry lemonade punch for your next gathering. This refreshing summer punch uses homemade lemonade base for a perfect sweet tart balance and is ready quickly.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen strawberries, hulled
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 68 lemons)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water (for simple syrup)
  • 4 cups cold water
  • 2 liters chilled club soda or sparkling water
  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced for garnish
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced for garnish

Instructions

  1. Make the strawberry puree: Combine the 2 cups of strawberries, 1 cup of water, and 1 cup of sugar in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves and the strawberries soften, about 5 minutes. Mash the berries slightly as they cook.
  2. Remove the mixture from the heat and let it cool for 10 minutes. Pour the strawberry mixture into a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Strain the puree through a fine-mesh sieve into a large bowl, pressing down on the solids to extract all the liquid. Discard the solids. This is your homemade strawberry lemonade base.
  3. In a very large punch bowl or beverage dispenser, combine the strained strawberry puree, 1 cup of fresh lemon juice, and 4 cups of cold water. Stir well to mix the lemonade base thoroughly.
  4. Chill the punch base in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld. This is a great step for make ahead punch recipes.
  5. Just before serving, gently stir in the 2 liters of chilled club soda or sparkling water. Do not overmix, as you want to keep the fizz.
  6. Add the sliced lemon and the extra sliced strawberries to the punch bowl for visual appeal. Serve this family friendly punch immediately over ice.

Notes

  • For a quicker version, substitute the sugar, water, and strawberries in step 1 with 2 cups of high-quality strawberry syrup.
  • If you prefer a sweeter drink, reduce the amount of fresh lemon juice slightly. For a more tart punch recipe, add a splash more lemon juice.
  • This recipe makes a big batch strawberry lemonade perfect for crowds. You can easily double the recipe for a larger party.
