Make this easy, creamy black bean dip in under 10 minutes. It is a healthy, plant-based appetizer perfect for parties or game day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (15 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder (optional, for slight spice)

Instructions

  1. Place the rinsed and drained black beans, lime juice, cilantro, garlic, olive oil, cumin, salt, pepper, and chili powder (if using) into a food processor.
  2. Process the ingredients until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy. Stop and scrape down the sides as needed.
  3. Taste the dip and adjust salt or lime juice if necessary.
  4. Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. Serve immediately with tortilla chips or fresh vegetables.

Notes

  • For a spicier dip, add 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce during processing.
  • If you do not have a food processor, you can mash the beans thoroughly with a fork and then vigorously whisk in the remaining ingredients until smooth.
  • This dip is best served fresh but keeps well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
