Make this unique, handheld dessert that tastes like warm peach cobbler wrapped in a crispy shell. This recipe uses simple steps to create a satisfying crunch and a sweet, spiced peach filling.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (15 ounce) can sliced peaches in heavy syrup, drained, reserving 2 tablespoons syrup
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 24 egg roll wrappers
  • Vegetable oil, for frying or air frying spray
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)
  • For the Vanilla Glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons milk, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the peach filling: In a medium saucepan, combine the drained peaches, reserved syrup, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook over medium heat until the mixture simmers.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Pour the slurry into the simmering peaches, stirring constantly until the filling thickens, about 1 minute. Remove from heat and let the filling cool completely.
  3. Assemble the egg rolls: Lay an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface with a corner pointing toward you (diamond shape). Place about 1 tablespoon of the cooled peach filling near the bottom corner.
  4. Fold the bottom corner up over the filling. Fold the left and right corners inward toward the center. Moisten the top edge of the wrapper with water using your finger. Roll the egg roll tightly away from you until sealed. Repeat with remaining filling and wrappers.
  5. Cook the egg rolls: For deep frying, heat 2 inches of oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the egg rolls in batches for 2 to 3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Drain on a wire rack lined with paper towels.
  6. For air frying, lightly spray the egg rolls with vegetable oil spray. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 8 to 10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crisp.
  7. Prepare the vanilla glaze: Whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add more milk, a drop at a time, if the glaze is too thick.
  8. Serve the crispy peach cobbler egg rolls warm, dusted with powdered sugar, and drizzled with the vanilla glaze.

Notes

  • You can substitute canned peaches with fresh peaches; dice them small and cook them down until soft before adding the slurry.
  • For an extra indulgent treat, serve these handheld peach cobbler dessert items with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
  • If you prefer a less sweet wrapper, you can use spring roll wrappers, but monitor cooking time closely as they are thinner.
