This easy maple fudge recipe delivers rich, earthy sweetness and the satisfying crunch of pecans, bringing a taste of comforting home tradition to your kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 (12 ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal. Lightly grease the paper.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, sugar, butter, and pure maple syrup.
  3. Stir the mixture constantly until the butter melts and the chocolate is fully dissolved. Do not let the mixture boil rapidly.
  4. Continue stirring until the mixture reaches 234 degrees Fahrenheit on a candy thermometer (soft-ball stage). This usually takes about 8 to 10 minutes of steady cooking after the initial melt.
  5. Remove the saucepan from the heat immediately. Stir in the vanilla extract and the chopped pecans. Add the pinch of salt.
  6. Beat the fudge mixture vigorously by hand for about 1 minute until it thickens slightly and loses some of its gloss.
  7. Quickly pour the fudge mixture into the prepared baking pan. Spread it evenly with a spatula.
  8. Let the fudge cool completely at room temperature for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
  9. Use the parchment paper overhang to lift the fudge from the pan. Cut into small squares.

Notes

  • For the best flavor, use high-quality pure maple syrup in this homemade maple fudge recipe.
  • If you prefer a smoother texture, you can toast the pecans lightly before adding them to the mixture.
  • This southern candy fudge keeps well in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
