Make the famous, rich, and creamy hot crab dip from Joe’s Crab Shack at home. This baked seafood dip is perfect for parties and game days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 8 ounces lump crab meat, drained and picked over
  • 1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese, for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease an 8-inch pie plate or small baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, and sour cream until smooth.
  3. Stir in the Old Bay seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix well to combine all seasonings.
  4. Add the chopped onion and green bell pepper to the cream cheese mixture. Mix until evenly distributed.
  5. Gently fold in the shredded Monterey Jack cheese and the lump crab meat. Be careful not to break up the crab meat too much; you want some texture remaining.
  6. Spread the crab dip mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese over the top of the dip.
  8. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the dip is hot throughout and the top is lightly golden brown.
  9. Let the dip cool for 5 minutes before serving warm with crackers, tortilla chips, or sliced bread.

Notes

  • For the best flavor, use real lump crab meat rather than imitation crab.
  • If you prefer a spicier dip, add a dash of hot sauce to the mixture before baking.
  • This warm crab dip reheats well; cover leftovers and refrigerate, then warm gently in the oven or microwave.
