This creamy garlic aioli uses simple ingredients to create a flavorful, restaurant-style sauce in just five minutes. It is a versatile condiment perfect for dipping fries or spreading on sandwiches.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup good quality mayonnaise
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced very fine
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place the minced garlic into a small bowl. Add the salt and pepper. Use the back of a spoon or a fork to mash the garlic into a paste with the seasonings. This helps release the flavor.
  2. Add the mayonnaise, lemon juice, and olive oil to the bowl with the garlic paste.
  3. Whisk all ingredients together until the mixture is completely smooth and creamy.
  4. Taste the aioli. Add more salt, pepper, or lemon juice if you prefer a stronger flavor.
  5. Transfer the garlic aioli to an airtight container. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to blend.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can substitute 1/4 cup of the mayonnaise with sour cream or plain Greek yogurt for a lighter, tangier garlic mayo sauce.
  • If you want a spicy aioli variation, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce during the mixing step.
  • This recipe makes a great sandwich spread recipe or a versatile sauce for roasted vegetables.
