Make this rich, decadent hot fudge pie that tastes like a warm brownie in a pie shell. This recipe delivers a gooey, melt-in-your-mouth chocolate center perfect for any special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (9-inch) unbaked pie crust (store-bought or homemade buttery crust)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional, for extra richness)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place your unbaked pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the sugar, flour, cocoa powder, and salt until fully combined.
  3. Add the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and milk to the dry ingredients. Mix with a spoon or whisk until the batter is smooth. Do not overmix.
  4. If using, stir in the chocolate chips.
  5. Pour the rich chocolate filling into the prepared pie crust.
  6. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes. The edges should look set, but the center will still be slightly soft and gooey.
  7. Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool completely on a wire rack. The center will firm up as it cools.
  8. Serve slightly warm for the best hot fudge pie experience, perhaps with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

  • For a true hot fudge pie experience, warm individual slices briefly before serving.
  • This pie is excellent served with a dollop of homemade whipped cream.
  • If you prefer a firmer texture, bake for an additional 5 minutes, but remember this recipe aims for a gooey center.
