Ingredients
Scale
1 pound ground beef
3 teaspoons olive oil
5 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 medium onion, diced
8 ounces bowtie (farfalle) pasta
1 1/2 cups beef broth
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Optional garnish: chopped parsley or extra Parmesan
Instructions
Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
Add the olive oil, minced garlic, and diced onion to the skillet with the beef. Cook until the onion softens, about 3 minutes.
Pour in the beef broth. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until the liquid reduces slightly, about 5 minutes.
Add the bowtie pasta directly to the skillet. Stir well.
Pour in the heavy cream. Bring the mixture back to a gentle simmer, stirring often to prevent sticking.
Cook until the pasta is tender and the sauce thickens, about 10 to 12 minutes, adding a splash of water or broth if the sauce becomes too thick before the pasta is done.
Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
Season with salt and black pepper to your taste.
Serve immediately, garnished with parsley or extra Parmesan cheese if desired.
Notes
If you prefer a thinner sauce, add a splash more heavy cream or broth at the end.
For a richer flavor, use freshly grated Parmesan cheese instead of pre-shredded.
This recipe is a great base for adding frozen peas or spinach during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
