Make this easy, one-pot creamy beef pasta for a satisfying comfort food dinner. This recipe uses ground beef and a rich garlic Parmesan sauce, coming together in just 30 minutes for quick weeknight meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 12 ounces dried pasta (like penne or rotini)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons cold water (slurry)

Instructions

  1. Place a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until it is browned completely. Drain off any excess grease.
  2. Add the minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to the pot with the beef. Cook for 1 minute until the garlic is fragrant.
  3. Pour in the beef broth and bring the mixture to a boil. Add the dried pasta to the pot. Stir well to prevent sticking.
  4. Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover the pot, and simmer for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the pasta is cooked to your liking and most of the liquid is absorbed. Stir occasionally.
  5. Stir in the heavy cream, butter, and Parmesan cheese until the cheese melts and the sauce becomes smooth.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and cold water to create a slurry. Pour the slurry into the simmering sauce and stir constantly for about 1 minute until the sauce thickens slightly to a velvety consistency.
  7. Remove the pot from the heat. Taste and adjust salt and pepper if needed. Serve immediately with extra grated Parmesan cheese on top.

Notes

  • For a higher protein pasta meal, use whole wheat or legume-based pasta shapes.
  • If you prefer a stronger garlic flavor, add 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder along with the seasonings in step 2.
  • This recipe is excellent for easy cleanup since it is made entirely in one pot.
