Make rich, smooth chocolate fondue easily on the stovetop or in a slow cooker. This recipe is perfect for parties, date nights, or a simple decadent dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips (Ghirardelli or similar quality recommended)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. If using a stovetop, place chocolate chips, heavy cream, and butter in a medium saucepan over low heat.
  2. If using a slow cooker (Crockpot), combine chocolate chips, heavy cream, and butter in the small slow cooker insert.
  3. Heat gently, stirring constantly until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth and glossy. Do not let it boil.
  4. Remove from heat (or turn off the slow cooker). Stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
  5. Transfer the fondue to a serving pot or keep warm in the slow cooker on the lowest setting.
  6. Serve immediately with your favorite dippers.

Notes

  • For a richer, darker flavor, substitute half the semi-sweet chips with bittersweet chocolate.
  • Keep the heat low to prevent the chocolate from seizing or burning.
  • For a copycat Melting Pot style, add 1/4 cup of finely chopped peanut butter or 1 teaspoon of instant espresso powder with the cream.
  • Prepare your dippers ahead of time: cut fruit, arrange cookies, and place everything on a dessert board.
