Make this easy, savory cheese ball appetizer for your next gathering. It is a simple, no-bake recipe perfect for holidays or game days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 4 ounces blue cheese, crumbled (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (for coating)
  • Optional additions: 4 slices cooked, crumbled bacon or 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, blue cheese (if using), Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until completely smooth and combined.
  2. If adding bacon or chives, fold them into the cheese mixture now.
  3. Place the cheese mixture onto a sheet of plastic wrap. Use the wrap to shape the mixture into a ball.
  4. Chill the cheese ball in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or until firm enough to handle.
  5. Spread the chopped nuts onto a shallow plate.
  6. Remove the chilled cheese ball from the plastic wrap. Roll the cheese ball in the chopped nuts until it is completely coated.
  7. Return the finished cheese ball to the refrigerator until ready to serve. Serve with crackers or vegetable sticks.

Notes

  • For a Ranch Cheese Ball variation, add 1 packet of dry ranch seasoning mix to the cheese mixture.
  • You can prepare this cheese ball up to 3 days ahead of time. Keep it tightly wrapped in the refrigerator.
  • If you prefer a smoother coating, use finely ground pecans or a mix of dried parsley and onion flakes instead of nuts.
