Make these quick drop biscuits that taste just like the famous restaurant garlic cheddar biscuits. This recipe delivers bold, savory flavor fast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 3/4 cup cold buttermilk
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (for topping)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder (for topping)
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  3. Cut the cold butter pieces into the flour mixture using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until it is evenly distributed.
  5. Pour in the cold buttermilk and mix just until a shaggy dough forms. Do not overmix.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, making about 12 biscuits. They should be rustic and uneven.
  7. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the tops are lightly golden brown.
  8. While the biscuits bake, prepare the topping: In a small bowl, melt the 4 tablespoons of butter. Stir in the garlic powder and dried parsley.
  9. Remove the hot biscuits from the oven. Brush the garlic butter mixture generously over the tops of the warm biscuits.
  10. Serve your cheesy bread recipe immediately.

Notes

  • For the best flavor, use sharp cheddar cheese.
  • If you do not have buttermilk, mix 3/4 cup of regular milk with 1 teaspoon of white vinegar or lemon juice and let it sit for 5 minutes before using.
  • This recipe makes excellent quick savory snacks for unexpected guests.
