Make a satisfying, zero-carb meal using only animal products. This crustless pie combines seasoned ground beef and melted cheese for a simple, high-protein dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 recommended)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (optional, omit for strict carnivore)
  • 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled (optional topping)
  • 4 slices American or cheddar cheese for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a 9-inch pie dish well with butter or fat.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and pepper if using. Mix gently until just combined; do not overmix.
  3. Press the seasoned ground beef mixture evenly into the bottom and up the sides of the prepared pie dish to form a crust shape. Bake this meat shell for 15 minutes to partially cook the meat.
  4. While the crust bakes, whisk the 4 eggs together in a small bowl. Stir in the 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Remove the partially cooked meat shell from the oven. Pour the egg and cheese mixture evenly over the meat base.
  6. Return the pie to the oven and bake for another 20 to 25 minutes, or until the egg mixture is set and the meat is fully cooked through.
  7. Remove the pie from the oven. Place the 4 slices of cheese on top of the hot pie. Let it sit for 5 minutes so the cheese melts.
  8. If desired, sprinkle crumbled bacon over the melted cheese before slicing and serving this easy carnivore dinner.

Notes

  • For a firmer crust, you can mix 1/4 cup of melted beef tallow or butter into the ground beef before pressing it into the dish.
  • If you follow a dairy-free carnivore approach, omit the cheese entirely and use extra eggs or beef gelatin as a binder.
  • This recipe works well as a keto cheeseburger casserole alternative when baked in a square dish instead of a pie plate.
