Make this Caramel Apple Dump Cake for a simple, comforting fall dessert. This recipe requires no mixing; you just layer the ingredients and bake for a gooey, buttery treat perfect for potlucks or weeknight indulgence.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (21 ounce) can apple pie filling
  • 1 (15.25 ounce) box yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup caramel bits or chips
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Pour the apple pie filling evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the apple layer. Do not mix the layers.
  4. Scatter the caramel bits evenly over the cake mix layer.
  5. Slowly drizzle the melted butter over the entire surface, aiming to cover the cake mix as much as possible.
  6. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  7. Let the dump cake cool slightly before serving warm. Serve with vanilla ice cream for the best experience.

Notes

  • For a slow cooker version, lightly grease a 6-quart slow cooker insert. Layer the ingredients as directed above. Cook on low for 3 to 4 hours or on high for 1.5 to 2 hours.
  • This recipe works well as a minimal prep desserts option for last minute dessert ideas.
  • If you do not have caramel bits, you can use 1/2 cup of caramel sauce drizzled over the cake mix before the butter.
