Make these flavorful Bang Bang Chicken Skewers using your preferred method: grill, air fryer, or oven. They feature juicy chicken coated in a creamy, sweet, and spicy homemade Bang Bang Sauce, perfect for a quick dinner or party appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Wooden or metal skewers (if using wood, soak them in water for 30 minutes)
  • For the Bang Bang Sauce:
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons sriracha (adjust for your heat preference)
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken: Place the cubed chicken in a bowl. Toss with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  2. Assemble skewers: Thread the seasoned chicken pieces onto the prepared skewers, leaving a small space between each piece.
  3. Cook the chicken (Choose one method):
  4. Grilling: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Grill the skewers for 4-5 minutes per side, until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F and shows nice char marks.
  5. Air Frying: Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (195°C). Arrange the skewers in a single layer in the basket, working in batches if necessary. Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until cooked through.
  6. Oven Baking: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange skewers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway, until the chicken is cooked through.
  7. Make the Bang Bang Sauce: While the chicken cooks, whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and rice vinegar in a small bowl until smooth.
  8. Sauce the chicken: Once the chicken is fully cooked, brush or drizzle generously with the homemade Bang Bang Sauce. Serve immediately with extra sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • For extra juicy chicken, use chicken thighs instead of breasts.
  • If you want a crispier texture when baking or air frying, lightly dust the chicken with a small amount of cornstarch before seasoning.
  • This recipe works well as a low carb chicken skewers option if you skip any added sugar in the sauce ingredients.
