Make this incredibly creamy, naturally sweet banana ice cream instantly using just frozen bananas. This healthy, dairy-free dessert requires no churning and comes together in five minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large ripe bananas, peeled, sliced, and frozen solid

Instructions

  1. Place your frozen banana slices into a high-powered blender or food processor.
  2. Begin processing the bananas. You will need to stop frequently to scrape down the sides.
  3. Continue blending. The mixture will first look crumbly, then start to clump together.
  4. Keep processing until the mixture transforms into a smooth, soft-serve consistency, similar to commercial ice cream. This usually takes 3 to 5 minutes depending on your machine.
  5. Serve immediately for a soft-serve texture, or transfer to a freezer-safe container and freeze for 30 minutes for a firmer scoopable texture.

Notes

  • For the creamiest texture, use bananas that are very ripe (spotted) before freezing.
  • If your blender struggles, let the bananas thaw for 5 minutes before starting. Add one tablespoon of dairy-free milk only if necessary to get the blades moving.
  • Mix in one tablespoon of peanut butter or cocoa powder during the last minute of blending for added flavor.
